FunTrench's Eden: Free Game Development Framework For Python Programmers

This week, a new game development platform will be available. Python programmers will be able to build 3D games that will be playable in your browser.

FunTrench is a technology company that creates 3D development technologies for rapid application development and generates revenue from value-addition products for these technologies.

edenThe Eden Development Team

Project Eden is a framework for 3D game development. Eden includes an SDK, that will be available in the first release, and an IDE. All the programming can be done in Python language.

Eden will be open source, under a BSD license. This way, it is completely free for commercial or personal purposes.

Project TrenchCube will be the 3D plugin for your browser that will allow Eden games to run inside your web browser.

This first release of Eden, that will be available this week, will have installers both for Linux and Windows, and ten sample applications, and a demo of a maze game.

Eden is based on Panda3D, an open source 3D engine that has been used in commercial games like Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean Online.

Stay tuned following their blog: http://blog.funtrench.com/

As soon as it is available, I will test it and show you some screenshots and first impressions.

Project Eden has experienced a slight delay in release but the release engineer assures me that by Monday evening we should have the download page. We apologize for any inconveniences caused.

Download Eden here:

https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=241355&package_id=316512&release_id=672359

Just download RPM for Linux or the MSI/EXE installer on Windows. Zip files for those interested in seeing the code.

The feature tests are also available for download at the same page. Please download.
